THRISSUR: A former BJP leader who was arrested long back with fake currency notes following note ban was arrested again recently with fake notes with a face value of crores of rupees.
It was Kodungallur S N Puram native Erasseri Rakesh, who was arrested by Koduvally Police. His aide and Malappuram native Suneer Ali was also arrested along with him from Kozhikode Omassery.
Rakesh and his brother Rajesh, who were BJP-Yuva Morcha leaders were arrested earlier in a fake note case. After coming to know about their money lending business, Mathilakam CI and team had reached their two-storey house. In examination conducted in the house, the police stumbled upon note printing machines and other facilities for printing notes.
The police raided his house only after observing him for a long time and he was arrested then. As the case became a topic of discussion at national level, the BJP expelled the duo from the party.
Rakesh (33) is the elder son of an ordinary farmer from Mathilakam Sreenarayana Puram. He along with his brother and parents is staying in his family house.
A computer expert and economic graduate, he has worked in a private company abroad for about four years. Three years ago he returned to his hometown and has been working with Bajaj Fin Corp for the the past five months. Though he was out on bail in the first case, nothing more was heard about him. The police, however, had been keeping a close eye on his activities.
